In his FY 1938 report, Krupp announced that he had begun development of the 105mm KL/52 Selbstfahrlafette. The car was known as the "Dicker Max". It was armed with a 105 mm K 18 L/52 Krupp cannon. The gun was equipped with a double deflector muzzle brake that could penetrate 111 mm of shielding at an angle of 30 degrees vertically at ranges up to 2000 meters. This Panzerjagder had weak armor (10–50 mm) and an open superstructure. The engine was a standard 12-cylinder (gasoline) Maybach HL 120, providing a top speed of 40 km / h on the road.
