Magach is the Israeli designation for Patton tanks - M48 and M60, supplied from the USA and Germany in the 60s and 70s. Magach 1, 2, 3 and 5 are based on the M48; Magach 6 and 7 are based on the M60. The Magach 6B is essentially an M60A1E2 tank.
As with all other imported and captured equipment, the Israelis made their own rather significant modifications to this tank.
Despite the considerable age of the M60 tank itself, upgrades for it do not stop, and make it possible to maintain outdated equipment at a fairly modern level.
In the name Magach 6B Gal Batash, the prefix Gal denotes the name of the Israeli fire control system, and Batash translates as “overall security” (comprehensive prot
