BRDM-2 combat reconnaissance and surveillance vehicle is the main armored combat vehicle of Soviet-made reconnaissance troops. Wheeled, armored, floating, armed with a 14.5-mm large-caliber KPVT machine gun, paired with a 7.62-mm PKT machine gun in a turret installation. On May 22, 1962, the combat vehicle was adopted. Serial production was organized in 1963 at GAZ, and from 1965 at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant and continued in the USSR until 1989.
