SU-85 is a Soviet self-propelled artillery mount (tank destroyer) from World War II and the early years of the Cold War. The first prototypes of this machine were made in 1943, and mass production continued from 1943 to 1944. In its course, about 2050 machines of this type were created. The combat weight of this self-propelled guns in the basic version was up to 29.6 tons. The drive was provided by one V-2-34 diesel engine with a power of up to 500 hp. The armament of the vehicle consisted of an 85 mm D-5T cannon. Inside the vehicle were usually two 7.62 mm PPS submachine guns.
