Landkreuzer P. 1000 "Ratte" - the designation of a superheavy tank, the project of which was developed in Germany in 1942-1943 under the leadership of Edward Grotte. The full name of the tank stands for "1000-ton land cruiser "Rat"". This tank is sometimes called a "land ship".
It is noteworthy that in 1931, the USSR considered a project for a very similar vehicle, designed by the same author - the 1000-ton TG-5 tank. Panzerkampfwagen VIII "Maus" (("Maus" German: "Mouse") (Sd.Kfz 205), another name - VK70.01/Porsche Type 205) - a super-heavy tank, designed in the Third Reich from 1942 to 1945 under the leadership of Ferdinand Porsche.
