The Italian 3Ro truck was a 5-cylinder diesel vehicle from the Ro truck line (Ro - 2-cylinder and Ro-Ro - 3-cylinder). Both civilian and military versions were produced between 1938 and 1947. It was the main heavy truck of the Royal Italian Army during World War II, serving in the Balkans, North Africa and on the Eastern Front. About 9,500 military vehicles were produced in many versions: cargo, military, tank, horse-drawn, fuel tankers and others. Some of the trucks were equipped with a 100 mm 100/17 howitzer or a 90 mm 90/53 anti-aircraft gun and became self-propelled artillery platforms. A large number of trucks were captured by the German Wehrmacht after the Italian Armistice on September 8, 1943. Several captured vehicles also served in the Allied army, in the heavy division of the LRDG forces.
