GAZ-66B (born in 1966) is a Soviet all-wheel drive military truck produced on the basis of the GAZ-66 for use in the Airborne Assault Forces. The main Soviet transport aircraft of the period were the An-8 and An-12, and due to size limitations, the GAZ-66B received a collapsible canvas cockpit, removable doors and windshield, telescoping rudder and attachment points to aid in parachute drop and landing. The TZ-2-66D tank truck, the R-142D radio station and command vehicle, the BM-21V anti-aircraft missile system with the 9P125 launcher (12 pipes) were also created on the basis of the GAZ-66B. Production was discontinued when the Air Force received the larger Il-76.
