German light armored car of the 1930s. Developed by Eisenwerken Weserhütte in the early 1930s as a reconnaissance or command vehicle.
Serial production was carried out from 1935 to September 1940, the total production amounted to more than 340 machines.
Sd.Kfz.221 were used by the German troops throughout World War II, gradually being replaced by more advanced Sd.Kfz.222, a small number of them were also sold to other countries.
