Semovente da 75/18 - light in weight (14.4 tons) Italian self-propelled artillery mount (SAO) of the Second World War, belonging to the class of assault guns. This combat vehicle was also successfully used as an anti-tank SAO and a self-propelled howitzer. It was produced by the Ansaldo company, armed with a 75 mm mountain howitzer Obice da 75/18 modello 34. After the capitulation of Italy in 1943, the production of these self-propelled guns was continued for the needs of the Wehrmacht under the name Sturmgeschütz M42 mit 75/18 850. It was used by Italian and German troops in theaters of war in North Africa, the Balkans and Italy. It is considered a successful use of the base of a hopelessly outdated tank.
