S-51 is an experienced Soviet heavy self-propelled artillery mount of the Great Patriotic War period. This combat vehicle was developed in the fall of 1943 on the basis of the KV-1s heavy tank by the Central Artillery Design Bureau (CAKB) under the leadership of Vasily Gavrilovich Grabin. The letter C in the ACS index according to the then adopted designation system corresponded to the developments of the CAKB, and the number 51 - the serial number of the project. The S-51 installation generally successfully passed field tests, but it was not adopted for service with the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and was not mass-produced.
