The sFH18 15cm howitzer is a direct descendant of the sFH13 crop of the First World War. The same carriage with a 105 mm barrel was used to manufacture the sK 18 10 cm heavy gun. These two guns were the main medium artillery pieces used in German artillery divisions, each battalion consisting of 12 guns.
