In 1940-1941, the Gustloff Werke in Sül produced the Gerat 239 as a dual purpose light weapon for paratroopers and mountain troops. The Gebringsflak 38 entered service in 1942 and by February 1945 only 180 were in service. It was used as both an anti-aircraft weapon and an anti-tank weapon, but the mount was too light for the gun and accuracy suffered as a result.
