《PLZ-83A SPH》 The standard heavy howitzer of the People's Liberation Army. It entered service in the early 1980s and was in service in Korea and against the Russians in large numbers. The main armament is a Chinese 152 mm Type 66 towed cannon mounted on a completely new chassis, similar to the Russian 152 mm 2S3 self-propelled guns. The layout of the Type 83 follows the general layout of the American M109 with six pairs of road wheels, engine and drive sprocket at the front and a large square turret at the rear.
