5 cm FlaK 41 - 50 mm anti-aircraft gun, designed to protect the intermediate zone above the range of light, 37 mm guns, but below the ceiling of heavy, 75 mm and above, guns. The development of the gun, although started in 1936, was slow, and the contract with Rheinmetall-Borsig was awarded only in 1940. The gun was produced in two modifications used to protect important industrial facilities. Neither of the two was successful and both had the same flaws. The turning rate was too low for fast moving targets, and the gun was not powerful enough, although the gunpowder produced a powerful explosion capable of bli
