The Volkswagen Beetle is a compact car manufactured and sold by Volkswagen. It is similar to its predecessor, the Volkswagen New Beetle, but the design of the car is in many ways related to its distant ancestor, the original Volkswagen Käfer. The Beetle is larger than the New Beetle (149 mm longer) and is based on the A5 (PQ35) platform along with the Volkswagen Jetta. In addition, the height is 12 mm less than that of its predecessor, and the width is 87 mm more. The trunk volume has also increased (310 liters versus 209 liters). The second generation Beetle will be built at Volkswagen's plant in Puebla, Mexico, the same location as the Volkswagen Jetta. A convertible version will follow the coupe in 2012. A
