Hermann Marwede is a modern German sea rescue vessel. The ship was launched in 2003, and soon it entered service. The total length of the ship is 46 meters, and the width is 10.7 meters. Propulsion is provided by three diesel engines with a total capacity of 9250 hp, which allow to develop a maximum speed of 25 knots. Hermann Marwede was built by the German shipyard Fassmer Werft, and one of the subcontractors was the Polish company Aluship Gdańsk, which built the ship's hull. The Hermann Marwede was made for the German Maritime Rescue Society (German abbreviation: DGzRS) and is named after a long-time donor to that organization. The unit is characterized by very modern equipment and a high degree of automation, which made it possible to significantly reduce the crew.
