The ship had a length of 210 m, a width of 33 m, a total displacement - launching time - 44,500 tons. The maximum speed of the battleship USS South Dakota reached 27 knots. The main armament consisted of 9,406 mm guns in three turrets of three guns each, and secondary armament consisted of mainly 16,127 mm guns.
