JS Kaga is a Japanese helicopter carrier of the Izumo type. According to the official classification, it is a destroyer-helicopter carrier. It has been in service with the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces (MSDF) since March 22, 2017. Named after the historical province of Kaga (existed in 823-1872). The name Kaga was also used by the aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1927-1942, which participated in World War II.
