On March 28, 1941, in a battle near Cape Matapan, it was heavy damaged by a torpedo from the English torpedo bomber Swordfish. On March 29, 1941, she was sunk by a torpedo from the English destroyer Jervis at 35°18′ N. sh. 21°13′ in. d.
