On the eve of the Tet Offensive, in January 1968, the US military had more than 330,000 soldiers and more than 78,000 Marines in Vietnam. The Marine Corps and 1st Cavalry Division units were composed of soldiers who were trained, reliable, and willing to do their duty. The kit represents a typical US infantry unit formation. The soldiers are armed with an M16 assault rifle and a 7.62 mm M60 machine gun. During the Vietnam War, Special Forces units, better known as Green Berets, were also used.
