Soviet shipborne multipurpose helicopter. The helicopter was developed by the Kamov Design Bureau under the leadership of the chief designer Nikolai Ilyich Kamov, later - S. V. Mikheev (N. I. Kamov died in November 1973). The prototype of the helicopter "252" took off on August 8, 1973. a-27 (according to NATO classification - "Helix-A") is designed to detect, track and destroy submarines moving at a depth of up to 500 m at speeds up to 75 km / h in search areas remote from the basing ship up to 200 km in waves seas up to 5 points day and night in simple and difficult weather conditions. The helicopter can carry out tactical tasks both individually and as part of a group and in cooperation with ships in all geographical latitudes.
