The UH-1 Iroquois is a military helicopter with one gas turbine engine, made according to the classic scheme with a rudder (CG). The helicopter was developed in 1952 by Bell Helicopter for the US Army as a casualty rescue and delivery vehicle. It made its first flight on October 20, 1956. The helicopter was put on the assembly line in 1960. It was the first gas turbine helicopter of the US Army. The helicopter proved its feasibility during the Vietnam War. There he received the nickname "Huey" (English Huey) from the marking HU-1. During the war, approximately 7,000 helicopters were shipped to Vietnam.
