Su-35 (Su-27M, factory code T-10M) (NATO codification: Flanker-E) is a Soviet fourth-generation multi-role fighter. Developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau as a further development of the Su-27. The first flight was made on June 28, 1988 (prototype T-10M-1). The first production aircraft took off on April 1, 1992. In the first half of the 1990s, 12 prototypes were produced, and the program was later discontinued in favor of the development of the Su-37 (later this program was also curtailed due to the crash of the prototype). In 2005, it was decided to resume development of the Su-35, and the updated fighter received the Su-35BM index.
