The F-100 was the first US Air Force supersonic fighter. It made its first flight on 25 May 1953 and the first production aircraft was built in October 1953. The Super Saber became the first fighter aircraft to achieve supersonic level flight, and did so on its maiden flight on October 29, 1953. The F-100 entered service in September 1954.
