Kawanishi N1K-J "Shiden" is a serial fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. The Allied code name is "George".
In December 1941, during work on the Kawanishi N1K aircraft, Kawanishi specialists proposed developing a land-based fighter based on it. The design characteristics of the aircraft were to be high, but the fleet opted for the Mitsubishi J2M. However, the company did not abandon this idea and in the fall of 1942 began developing an aircraft, which received the factory designation X-1.
