Chance Vought F4U Corsair is an American carrier-based fighter-bomber manufactured by Vought during World War II and the Korean War. The first model entered the Navy's aviation in 1942, the last one entered the French Air Force in 1953. A total of 12,571 aircraft of 16 modifications were produced, which is a record for the production of piston-engine aircraft in the history of American aviation.
