It was developed in the 1970s, made its first flight in 1981. In 1987, it was put into service in the USSR. After the collapse of the USSR, the Tu-160 fleet was located in russia and Ukraine. Ukraine partially disposed of its fleet, partially transferred it to Russia, one museum exhibit remained - in the Poltava Museum of Long-Range Aviation.
