The He 70 is a single-engine, low-wing monoplane designed by Lufthansa from January 1932 as a high-speed passenger aircraft. The aircraft had an all-metal fuselage, a wooden low-lying wing. He 70a had a BMW VI engine. In February 1933, tests began on the He 70b, on which various modifications of the same engine were tested and a number of world records were set. In 1933, instructions were received to develop a reconnaissance version of the Heinkel He 70.
The He 70c modification was adapted to mount an aerial camera and a machine gun on the upper defensive mount. Modification He 70d was adapted for civil aviation. The modification of the He 70e was similar to the He 70d with a bomb bay installed. Serial production was carried out in 1934-1937, 324 copies of the aircraft were manufactured.
Separate design solutions of the He-70 were used to create a prototype of the Japanese bomber.
