The F8F-2 Bearcat is an American single-engine carrier-based fighter manufactured by Grumman, developed at the end of World War II to replace the F6F Hellcat. Although it did not have time to take part in the fighting of World War II, it became one of the main carrier-based fighters of the United States in the post-war period, until it was replaced by jet aircraft in the late 1940s.
