The F-14 Tomcat is a two-seat jet deck-based interceptor, a fourth-generation variable-sweep multirole fighter produced by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation.
Developed in the early 1970s to replace the F-4 Phantom II. It was exported to Iran before the Islamic Revolution of 1978, where it is still in service. Decommissioned by the US Navy in 2006 and replaced by the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet.
