Chengdu J-20 is a Chinese fighter of the fourth (according to the Chinese nomenclature) or fifth generation (according to the Western nomenclature). Developed by the Aviation Industry Corporation in Chengdu (Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation).
In 2009, in a television interview, the deputy commander of the People's Liberation Army Air Force stated that a fifth-generation fighter program was being developed in China jointly by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation and Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. The fighter entered service in 2017.
