Based on the Messerschmitt Me 262A, the B-1a/U1 version was designed to be a night-time bomber designed to fend off numerous Allied bomber raids over German skies during the final phase of World War II. Equipped with the characteristic Neptune system antenna masts at the nose, it had a two-seat fuselage that housed the pilot and radar operator. Like the Me 262 A single-seat variant, it was powered by two Junker Jumo 004-B jet engines, which allowed it to reach a record speed of 870 km/h for the 1940s at an altitude of 6000 m, which is about 150 km/h. km/h faster than any other Allied piston bomber. Heavily armed with four 30 mm MK 108 cannons, it arrived at the combat units
