The Grumman F-14 Tomcat (eng. Grumman F-14 Tomcat, Russian cat) is a fourth-generation double jet carrier-based interceptor/multi-role fighter with variable wing geometry, manufactured by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation.
Developed in the early 1970s to replace the US Navy's F-4 Phantom II fighter. In service since 1974. Withdrawn from US Navy service in 2006 and replaced by the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. It was exported to Iran and is currently in service there.
