A product of the US Air Force during the Cold War, the A-10 was developed and deployed in the late 1970s to fight against Warsaw Pact forces in Central Europe. Instead, in 1991, real action took place in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. Later, actions took place again in both Bosnia and Kosovo. In all these real combat situations, the A-10 justified the goals of its designers.
