An-225 "Mriya" is a super-heavy transport aircraft, created in 1988 in the USSR by the Kyiv Antonov Design Bureau. By 2022, the An-225 was the largest and most powerful aircraft in the world. The aircraft was created for the needs of the Soviet space program: to transport cargo, the Buran spacecraft and components of the Energia missile system.
In 2004, the International Aeronautical Federation entered the An-225 into the Guinness Book of Records for its 240 records.
On February 27, 2022, an An-225 was destroyed in a hangar during the fighting for Gostomel airport during the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
