The Tu-95 (NATO reporting name: Bear) is a strategic bomber-missile carrier, developed and adopted by the USSR in the 1950s. The Tu-95 was created as an analogue of the American strategic bomber Convair B-36 "Peacemaker". This aircraft, which became one of the symbols of the Cold War, was intended to destroy strategic objects behind enemy lines, in any weather conditions and at any time of the day.
