In March 2004, the US Army ordered 33 Shadow 200 devices. In August 2004, the upgraded version of the RQ-7B began testing. The RQ-7A Shadow 200 complex is opposed to the MQ-1 Predator aircraft unmanned system, which is expensive and requires an airfield base.
Modifications Shadow 400 and Shadow 600 have a two-fin vertical tail and a horizontal stabilizer, Shadow 200 is equipped with an inverted V-shaped tail. The wing is removable and collapsible for ease of transportation. The main difference between “Shadow 200”, “… 400” and “… 600” is in their area of application. The Shadow 200 complex is designed for reconnaissance directly in the interests of the command post of a motorized infantry brigade. The Shadow 600 complex is the successor to the RQ-2 Pioneer complex.
