The Mk 61 105mm self-propelled howitzer (or AMX Mk.61) is a French self-propelled artillery installation designed and manufactured in the late 1950s for the French Army. The car had the same suspension as the AMX-13. A fully welded box steel superstructure is fitted to the rear of the vehicle to provide 360° protection against small arms and projectile fragments. The gun compartment has a commander's turret with a periscope and 360° viewing units. The turret also has a ring mount for an external 7.5 or 7.62mm LMG. The gun bay also has top and rear access hatches.
