D-30 is a 122-mm towed howitzer, created in the Soviet Union in the late 1950s. It was adopted by the USSR in the early 1960s. It is one of the most massive artillery systems of the post-war period. Popularly nicknamed "Frog".

The D-30 howitzer is designed to perform the following main tasks:
- destruction and suppression of enemy manpower, open and in field-type shelters (in trenches, dugouts, dugouts)
- destruction and suppression of fire means of enemy infantry
- destruction of wood-ground fire points (DZOTs) and other field-type structures
- creation of passages in minefields and wire fences
- fight against enemy artillery, motorized vehicles and tanks.
