For a long time, the MiG 21 was the standard fighter of the Warsaw Pact countries and proved itself as a successful interceptor and fighter-bomber. Having replaced the MiG-15, 17 and 19, it was adopted by the Soviet Air Force in 1960/61. The high-performance fighter achieved several records, including a speed record of 2,388 km/h in 1959 and an altitude record of 34,714 meters in 1961. His baptism of fire came in the war in Vietnam and the Middle East. Over the years, it has been constantly improved and modernized according to operating conditions and requirements. The MF versions were equipped with a more powerful engine, improved electronics and a sophisticated radar system.
