A34 "Comet" (English A34 Comet) is a British medium cruiser tank of the Second World War, produced from 1944 to the end of 1945. A further development of the Mk VIII "Cromwell" cruiser tank. Armed with a modification of the 17-pounder HV anti-tank gun, lighter in weight and with a shorter barrel length than the original version, but with slightly lower armor penetration (to avoid confusion with the original 17-pounder, its caliber was often indicated as 77 mm, although in fact it was actually equal to the same 76.2 mm).
