The MT-LB tracked armored personnel carrier was developed in the mid-1960s and entered service with the Soviet Army at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. The car was equipped with one hp 240 diesel engine. and accommodated up to 11 paratroopers. The crew consisted of two people: the commander and the driver. The main armament of the basic version was a single 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, located in the turret in front of the vehicle. The MT-LB transporter was originally developed as an artillery tractor for anti-tank guns.
