The H35 tank had a crew of two, armament included a 37 mm short-barreled cannon and a 7.5 mm machine gun, and armor thickness ranged from 14 to 40 mm. During serial production, from 1935 until the surrender of France in 1940, about 1,200 tanks of this type were produced in several modifications.
Captured French tanks were adopted by the Wehrmacht and were used at least until 1944, while some of the tanks were modernized, and some were converted into self-propelled guns, MLRS and artillery tractors. The towers removed during the conversion were used in the construction of the fortifications of the Atlantic Wall.
