The LAV-III armored vehicle is the latest in a series of light armored vehicles (LAV) generation III, built by General Dynamics Land Systems and entered service in 1999.
It is based on the Swiss MOWAG Piranha IIIH. III also has a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun, a 5.56 or 7.62 mm upper machine gun and a 76 mm grenade launcher.
It was developed in Canada and is the main motorized infantry vehicle of the Canadian Army Command and the New Zealand Army.
