M108 (eng. 105mm Self-Propelled Howitzer M108) is an American self-propelled artillery mount (ACS), a class of self-propelled howitzers. Created in 1953-1960 in parallel with the 155-mm self-propelled guns M109, it was intended to replace the M52 self-propelled howitzer in the troops. Prior to adoption, it had the name T195. Serial production began in 1962, but by 1963 it was curtailed in favor of the more powerful M109, only 355 M108s were produced. It was used by US troops in the Vietnam War, but was withdrawn from service shortly after. It was also delivered to Belgium, Brazil, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey and is still in service in most of these countries, as of 2007.
