Making an order for the design of the Pz.Kpfw. II, the German military command pursued the goal of closing the gap in the absence of tanks in the Third Reich until more modern tanks Pz.Kpfw. III and Pz.Kpfw. IV, which were then still under development. But, by the beginning of hostilities, due to an acute shortage of medium tanks, Pz.Kpfw. II, it was decided to use it in real combat conditions (before that, the tank was used as a training tank), where it proved to be very good.
