Tas Röhamloveg is a tank destroyer project developed together with the 44M Tas tank based on the same chassis. It was started in 1944, when some of the officers involved in the development of the 44M Tas came to the conclusion that it would be nice to start a heavy tank destroyer project along with the development of the tank. They were undoubtedly influenced by the success of such German vehicles, which were not only deadly, but also cheaper to build than conventional tanks. They were also lower in silhouette, harder to spot, easier to ambush, and generally suited to the defensive war that both the German and Hungarian armies found themselves in.
