"Tashkent" is the leader of the squadron destroyers of the Russian Navy of the RKKA project 20I.
The construction of the destroyer was planned as part of a program to acquaint Soviet engineers with the latest technical solutions in the industry of developed countries. The project of the ship was developed and implemented by Odero Terni Orlando in Livorno. On December 28, 1937, due to complications in interstate relations, the ship was launched in an unfinished state, and in the spring of 1939, after acceptance tests, it arrived in the USSR. On October 22, 1939, the ship was included in the Black Sea Fleet of the USSR, after which weapons were installed on it.
