"Black Hawk", named after the military leader of the Sauk Indian tribe; manufacturer's factory index - S-70, S - from Sikorsky, combined arms index - UH-60, UH - from Utility Helicopter) - an American multi-purpose helicopter. Entered service with the US Army , replacing the Bell UH-1 "Huey" helicopter.
Flight tests of the experimental modification of the UH-60 were completed in 1974; in 1976, the helicopter won a competition for delivery to the US Army. Until 1985, the US Army purchased more than 300 UH-60 helicopters. By the mid-1990s, more than 2,600 helicopters had been built.
When installing additional pylons, it can be equipped with an AGM-114 Hellfire ATGM and additional fuel tanks for long-range flights.
