The Aermacchi MB-339 was born as a direct evolution of the MB-326 trainer. Thus, the MB-339 retains the basic aerodynamic characteristics of its predecessor, enhancing the role of an advanced trainer by changing the configuration of the front part to provide better visibility in the cabin. Due to its excellent maneuverability and operational flexibility, the Aermacchi MB-339 is also used for light tactical support missions. Its underwing pylons allow the use of combat load in accordance with the tasks of close support and ground attack. In addition to the Italian Air Force, the main user, the MB-339 was also adopted by the Argentine Air Force, which used it during the Falklands-Malvinas War in 1982.
